The Mahalaxmi Saras is an annual event organized by the Government of Maharasthra to provide a marketing platform to rural entrepreneurs and artisans. This year the festival took place in the month of January in BKC and that's when we organized a #Kadka meetup! The food was overwhelming, the prices were dirt cheap, and the warmth was all around. The food stalls were helmed by women self help groups from all over the state. There were two other sections as well - one for shows & performances, and the other for the sale of handicrafts and local produce.
We had a blast and focused solely on the food! Check out the video!

Special shoutout to Kaushal for leading the group at Saras this year!

So what exactly is Mahalaxmi Saras ?

An initiative of the Government of Maharashtra to provide a marketing platform to rural entrepreneurs and artisans, Mahalaxmi Saras is an annual exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts, handlooms and food products.

We were there more for the food than anything else, and it was totally worth it. There was amazing variety from different parts of Maharashtra all with their own unique flavours! Check out the photos, and let me know if you're ever been to Mahalaxmi Saras before? (FYI this is the 17th year that it's taken place, so if you haven't been, definitely visit next year!)

Waking up early and heading to Chembur for Breakfast at 10am is a task, but we managed to do it! There were about 10 of us in total and we visited 3 places. VIG Refreshments was stop 1, where we gorged on everything except kulchas. We had the legendary Dal Pakwan, followed by Chole pattice, chole pulav, Masala Puris, Chaas, Lassi. Reason we skipped the Kulchas was for our second stop - Sainath Dhaba. Epic find to be honest - Best Kulchas hands down! We had about 6 kulchas in total, mostly repeat orders of the Double Cheese Onion Kulcha! And yes, there were onions in the kulchas ;). Lastly we ended the foodwalk at Jhama Sweets. We had some rasmalai and also tried a few other things. Honestly we were suffed by then. A few of us returned to Vig and took some parcels home.

Description

As die-hard foodies, we're always looking out for interesting places to eat but tired of doing it alone or in the company of folks who aren't trying to stave of the urge to lick the plate clean :P

Hence, Pet Pujaris - A gang of die-hard foodies who venture out together to try new eateries in Mumbai.

We do this twice a month... once in the beginning and then towards the end. The beginning of every month will be set aside for the more pricey food establishments in Mumbai - #Fatka, and towards the end we will dine at eateries offering more VFM - #Kadka.

Feel free to join us for one or both.

We will pick one from each category every month.

At a #Fatka you pay for what you've eaten in case of al a carte (yes it's a tedious process in splitting the bill) or you pay for the set menu.
At a #Kadka we normally pool in the money if we're visiting more than one place or you again pay for what you eat.

There's no separate registration fee, there's no special email database, just keep checking the page for event updates and show up.
